Frequently Asked Questions About GeneLux + Epigenetic

1. What is GeneLux genetic screening?

GeneLux is a personalised genetic screening service that analyses your DNA to provide insights into your unique genetic profile. It helps you understand your body’s characteristics, metabolism processes, hereditary health risks, medication response, and allergy predispositions, providing you with scientifically backed information to make better health decisions.

2. How accurate is the GeneLux genetic screening?

GeneLux uses Illumina’s customised genotyping technology to analyse approximately 30 million genetic markers.

The test delivers up to 99.9% accuracy and is conducted in laboratories accredited with ISO 15189 and ISO 17025 standards, ensuring highly accurate, reliable, and scientifically validated results.

3. What do I need to do to complete the test?

After placing your order, you will receive a GeneLux DNA collection kit containing an oral swab. Simply collect your saliva sample according to the instructions and return it to our laboratory; your DNA will be analysed to generate a personalised genetic report.

4. What languages are available for the genetic report?

The GeneLux report is available in English and Chinese, and you can select your preferred language when placing your order.

5. How long does it take to receive my report?

After your sample arrives at the laboratory, it will take about 21 working days to complete your genetic analysis, and your digital report will be delivered via email or WhatsApp.

6. How long does it take to receive the genetic test kit?

After your order is confirmed, your GeneLux test kit will be dispatched and delivered to you within 3 to 5 working days.

7. Can I request a refund?

As GeneLux is a personalised genetic testing service, all purchases are non-refundable once the order has been placed. If your test kit arrives damaged during shipping, please contact our customer support team within 48 hours of receiving it to request an exchange (subject to terms and conditions).

8. Is my genetic data safe and secure?

Yes. GeneLux adheres to strict data privacy and security standards, including compliance with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA 2010 MOH-LIA, GINA, and HIPAA). Your genetic information is used solely for analysis and reporting, and will never be shared with third parties without your explicit consent.

9. Who is GeneLux suitable for?

GeneLux is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of their health and genetic profile. It is particularly recommended for individuals who want to optimise their nutritional intake, maintain overall health and wellbeing, identify potential hereditary health risks, and understand allergy predispositions.

10. What is the Epigenetic screening for?

The Epigenetic screening is designed to assess your current health status by analysing hair and hair follicle samples. It evaluates how key lifestyle factors in your daily routine, such as your diet, sleep, stress levels, and environment, affect your body and health.

11. Why is the Epigenetic screening recommended every 6 months?

While your DNA is a fixed trait, your epigenetic profile changes over time in response to your lifestyle and environment. Repeating the test every six months allows you to track changes in your health, evaluate the effectiveness of your nutrition wellness plan, and make timely adjustments to your daily routine for better health.

12. How is the Epigenetic screening sample collected?

The Epigenetic screening uses a non-invasive hair sampling method: simply pluck 4 to 5 strands of hair with the follicles attached (do not cut the hair), place them into the provided collection kit, and return the sample to the laboratory for analysis.

13. Why is it recommended to take both GeneLux and the Epigenetic screening together?

GeneLux analyses your genetic profile and hereditary health risks, while the Epigenetic screening evaluates how your current lifestyle and environment are influencing your health.

Together, they provide a holistic understanding of your genetic foundation and your current health status, which allows for personalised nutrition and wellness recommendations.

14. What’s the difference between GeneLux and the Epigenetic screening?

GeneLux is a one-time DNA test that identifies your genetic traits and long-term health predispositions, while the Epigenetic screening is designed to be conducted periodically to help you monitor how your diet, lifestyle, stress, and environment affect your body over time. When used together, they support both long-term disease prevention and ongoing optimisation of your health and wellness plan.
